Last weekend, we had the pleasure of attending as guests the 20th jubilee edition of the International Festival of Ancient Heritage “Eagle on the Danube”! This year, the festival is being held across three of our member municipalities – Dolna Mitropolia, Pleven, and Gulyantsi.

Nearly 200 reenactors from nine countries gathered on Saturday in the Regional Museum of History – Pleven, and presented impressive demonstrations of ancient crafts, military practices, and everyday life from the time of the Roman Empire. Visitors were immersed in the atmosphere of living history and had the opportunity to taste food prepared according to Roman recipes.

Supporting events such as “Eagle on the Danube” is part of the mission of the Association of Danube River Municipalities "Danube" (ADRM) to promote the rich Roman heritage along the Lower Danube. We are also part of the Roman Legacy project (funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme), which aims to create a cultural route connecting significant sites of the Roman Danube Limes, with the ambition of obtaining certification as a “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe”.

And that this mission is not just words is also evident from the fact that among the reenactors there was also a representative of the Management Board of the Association of Danube River Municipalities "Danube" (ADRM).
