Towards a new cultural route on the Danube Limes

ADRM “Danube” took part in the 3rd Project Partner Meeting of the Roman Legacy project (Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021–2027) and the first Transnational Expert & Нетворкинг Meeting with international experts and key stakeholders, held between 20–24 April in the Danube city of Novi Sad (Serbia).

The event provided a valuable opportunity for the exchange of experience, ideas, and good practices related to the preservation and promotion of Roman cultural and historical heritage. During the meetings, participants discussed the project’s progress, upcoming activities, and opportunities for developing sustainable international cooperation among partners and the expert community.

As part of the programme, participants also visited the archaeological site of Sirmium — one of the most significant Roman centres in the Balkans and an important example of the rich cultural heritage along the Danube region.

Among the Bulgarian participants, alongside the partners from Belene Municipality and BATTI, there were also experts from the Pleven Regional Museum of History and the Oryahovo Museum of History, who contributed with their professional experience and expertise in the field of cultural heritage and archaeology.

For ADRM “Danube” the participation in the Roman Legacy project is part of a long-term vision for promoting the Roman cultural heritage along the Danube in Bulgaria. The main objectives pursued together with the international partners are the inclusion of the Danube Limes in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as the creation of a thematic cultural route of the Council of Europe.
