Over the past few days, the Association of Danube River Municipalities “Danube” had the pleasure of hosting an official delegation from the Associazione dei Comuni delle Terre Basse Bresciane, Lombardy, Italy, as part of a visit dedicated to strengthening European partnerships and exchanging good practices between local communities.

Between May 14th–16th, the delegation visited the municipalities of Ruse, Vetovo, Tutrakan, Belene, and Tsenovo, where they explored the region’s economic, tourism, and cultural potential.

The program included:
▪️ participation in the “Weekend Tourism” exhibition in Ruse;
▪️ visits to leading companies and local producers, including Kaolin, FAAC Bulgaria, Bagri Farm, and Agrola Ecoinvest;
▪️ meetings with representatives of local authorities and businesses;
▪️ visits to the Ethnographic Museum “Danube Fishing and Boatbuilding” and Persina Nature Park;
▪️ a twinning ceremony between Rotary Club Meano delle Terre Basse and Rotary Club Tutrakan.

This visit builds upon the established partnership between Bulgarian and Italian municipalities following the visit of the ADRM’s delegation to the Terre Basse Bresciane region in Italy in October 2025. During that visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration and joint initiatives in local development, tourism, economy, and culture.

The meetings and visits over the past days further strengthened the shared commitment of both sides to developing sustainable international partnerships and creating new opportunities for cooperation between institutions, organizations, and businesses from Bulgaria and Italy.

We would like to thank all partners, institutions, and organizations who contributed to the successful implementation of this visit and to promoting the Danube region as a space for European dialogue and cooperation.
