Danube River Municipalities at 11. Donausalon 2026

On 5 March, the Association of Danube Municipalities “Danube” participated with its own stand in the event “Danube Salon” 2026, organized by the Representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg in Berlin as a side event of the international tourism trade fair ITB Berlin. The forum brought together representatives of institutions, businesses, academia and cultural organizations from the countries along the Danube River.

The 11th edition of the “Danube Salon” was hosted by Bulgaria, as our country holds the Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in 2026. This placed a special focus on the role of the Danube municipalities as a united regional partner, highlighting the importance of the local dimension of the Danube Strategy, the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region, as well as the opportunities for future partnerships and joint projects.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Grigor Porozhanov, visited the stand of the Association of Danube Municipalities “Danube”, where opportunities were discussed for more active promotion of the Bulgarian Danube region, the development of sustainable tourism, and the expansion of international cooperation between Danube municipalities and partners from Germany. The Chairman of the Board of the Association of Danube Municipalities “Danube” and Mayor of Belene Municipality, Mr. Milen Dulev, presented H.E. Ambassador Porozhanov with a symbolic gift from the region — a bottle of Danube wine.

Through its participation in ITB Berlin and “Danube Salon” 2026, the Association of Danube Municipalities “Danube” continues to consistently promote the Bulgarian Danube region and strengthen the municipalities along the river as an attractive, recognizable and sustainable tourist destination.
