ADRM "Danube" is represented in Regional Conference on Transport

The Executive Director of ADRM "Danube" Maria Tzankova participates in the Regional Conference for Promotion of Investment in Transport, which takes place today and tomorrow in Sofia. The event is organized by the European Commission's Directorate-General "Mobility and Transport" in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications

The forum aims to bring together representatives of the European Commission, the Bulgarian government and institutions, the public sector and business. Among the guests of the event is the Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulz, as well as the European coordinators Carla Pace and Catherine Trautman. During the event will be explored opportunities for the increase of investment in the transport sector. A call for proposals published by the European Commission on 8 February 2017 will also be presented, providing € 1 billion in addition to private initiatives targeting key transport projects.

Currently, the Association of Danube River Municipalities "Danube" implements the project "Feasibility Study for reducing the use of TEN-T network in the cross-border region Romania-Bulgaria by optimizing freight and passenger transport and the development of a joint mechanism to support intermodal links" funded by the Program INTERREG VA Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020. The main objective of the project is to significantly improve the process of planning, development and coordination of a cross-border transport system for a better connection with the TEN-T network in the cross-border region. Within the project are foreseen investment in an expert-led preliminary study; establishment and adoption of a strategic document for optimizing the transport system using intermodal transport links in the cross-border region.
