LIMES Project was presented

Today, in the conference hall of the hotel "Vega", Ruse was held the initial press conference for the launch of project "Development and promotion of joint cultural and historical tourism product: Route" Roman frontier within the cross-border region Romania-Bulgaria ", with registration number 15.2.1.067. A day earlier the project was presented to the media in the city of Constanta, Romania.

The project is funded under the program Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria 2014-2020, and is implemented by the Association of Danube River Municipalities "Danube" (Bulgaria) and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Shipping and Agriculture - Constanta (Romania). The total budget of the project amounts to 908,408.15 euros, of which 772,146.93 euros are provided by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project duration is 24 months.

Within the initial press conference were presented the objectives, activities and expected results from the Bulgarian-Romanian initiative. The main objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of the common cultural heritage in the cross-border region through the development and promotion of an integrated tourism product in the field of cultural heritage: Route "Roman frontier within the cross-border region Romania-Bulgaria".

Among the main activities in the scope of project are: Elaboration of a common preliminary study on the objects of the Roman heritage; Elaboration of a common strategy on development, enhancement and innovation of the Roman heritage integrated tourism product; Development of a marketing strategy of the integrated Roman heritage tourism product; Design and development of promotional materials for the route; Consultations with stakeholders and expert community in Bulgaria and Romania and the organization of 16 round tables;  Holding a final conference for the presentation of the tourism product.

The project aims to contribute to the overall economic development of the cross-border region. By attracting large numbers of new tourists shall be created a better market environment for local businesses and greater incentives to invest in improving the tourism infrastructure in the region. This will be a boost for the local economy and will lead to higher levels of employment.
