ADRM and ACTBB signed a Memorandum of Understanding

On October 23rd and 24th, 2025, the Association of Danube Municipalities "Danube" was on a working visit to municipalities near Brescia (Lombardy), Italy, at the invitation of the partner organization Associazione dei Comuni delle Terre Basse Bresciane.

The culmination of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two associations, laying the foundation for a long-term partnership and future joint initiatives between the Danube municipalities and the Italian municipalities near Brescia!

The Bulgarian delegation was led by the President of the ADRM’s Management Board and Mayor of Belene Municipality - Mr. Milen Dulev and included representatives from the municipalities of Tutrakan (Dr. Dimitar Stefanov, Vice-President and Mayor of Tutrakan Municipality), Vetovo (Dr. Mehmed Mehmed, Mayor of Vetovo Municipality) and Tsenovo (Ms. Vanya Ignatova, Deputy Mayor), as well as ADRM’s team.

The two-day event, held under the motto "Bulgarian-Italian Cooperation: Lower Brescia - Danube Region", was dedicated to the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of local & regional development, culture, innovations and agriculture, heritage and sustainable tourism. 

The meetings took place in the municipalities of Dello and Borgo San Giacomo (Castello Padernello), where the participants discussed:

• opportunities for joint projects under European programs (Interreg, Cohesion funds);

• promotion of cultural and Danube tourism;

• preservation and promotion of local heritage and products.

The program included presentations of best practices from Italian and Bulgarian municipalities, bilateral meetings, as well as visits to local businesses and cultural sites contributing to the sustainable development of the region around Brescia.

The signed Memorandum of Understanding is an important step towards initiating joint projects between the Bulgarian Danube region and the municipalities near Brescia, based on partnership and trust.
