8th Maritime Academy- Tradition of Partnerships and Friendships

The 8th Bulgarian-Hungarian Forum "Maritime Academy 2020" was officially opened on June 7th, 2018 in Sunny Beach. The event is organized by the Association of Danube River Municipalities "Danube" and is organized under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Science Mr. Krassimir Valchev and the Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria H.E. Tekla Harangozo. Representatives of municipalities, municipal councils, schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions from Bulgaria and Hungary meet in a three-day forum for training and exchange of good practices.

The forum was opened with a concert of children from the centre in Nessebar. Greeting addresses were sent by the Minister of Education and Science, Mr. Krasimir Valchev, the Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria H.E. Tekla Harangozo, the Mayor of Ruse Municipality and Chairman of the Management Board of ADRM "Danube" Mr. Plamen Stoilov, the Mayor of Nessebar Municipality Mr. Nikolay Dimitrov, the Deputy Mayor of the 12th district in Budapest Mrs. Cristina Fonti. The event continued with plenary reports and a discussion on "Contemporary Vision of School and Pre-school Education". The participants in "Maritime Academy 2020" were acquainted with the activities of the "International Grand Duke of Edinburgh - Bulgaria" Foundation Award.

The Hungarian Cultural Institute took part in the event by arranging a thematic exhibition presenting landmarks from a number of cities in Hungary.

Traditionally, the "Maritime Academy" continues with a trip and a visit of Bulgarian participants to Budapest in the autumn of 2018.
